June 15 2011 - June 17 2011; PER-222 Public Safety WMD Response – Sampling Techniques and Guidelines
Pasco County Office of Emergency Management and the National Center for Biological Research and Training (LSU) is pleased to offer the PER-222 Public Safety WMD Response – Sampling Techniques and Guidelines on June 15th threw June 17th 2011.
SCOPE: This course prepares hazardous materials (HazMat) teams within state and local emergency response agencies to safely and effectively conduct public safety operations at known or suspected weapons of mass destruction (WMD) incidents in a manner consistent with Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recommended guidelines for procedures and protocols, including a sampling response in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) 1910.120(q). The course challenges participants to develop a systematic approach to managing a WMD scene in which the public’s safety is at risk. The course evolves from traditional problem-based classroom activities into a series of scenario-based practical exercises. Participants who successfully complete the course are eligible to participate in the Advanced Chemical/Biological Integrated Response course delivered at the Dugway Proving Grounds.

August 2010:
CHAART will conduct a pet-friendly shelter evacuation drill & volunteer recruitment on Saturday, August 14th from 10am to 12pm at Shields Middle School in Ruskin. All existing volunteers are invited to this training.
We are looking for volunteers who can help set up for this event at 9am on the 14th, as well as assist with forms processing. If you can help, please let me know.
If you are an existing volunteer attending this training who needs an ID badge please email me your name by August 10, and I will bring a new ID badge for you. If you have your badge, but it has expired, please bring your badge with you and will will update the expiration date.
Media, as well as County Commissioners have been invited to this event.

3 classes in Sarasota are presently in question. HSUS is now offering the
classes to only wildlife paraprofessionals and those in the
veterinary field and those that are DART trained or licensed wildlife
rehabbers be included to take this training.

Curriculum Area: NIMS ICS All-Hazards Position Specific
Course Title: Incident Commander (IC) Course
Course Description:
This course is designed to provide local and state-level emergency responders with a robust understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities of an effective IC on an All-Hazards Incident Management Team. These responsibilities fall into two categories: 1) responding to the incident and command needs of the incident, and 2) effectively fulfilling the position responsibilities of an Incident Commander on an All-Hazards ICS Incident Management Team. Exercises, simulations, discussions, and a final exam enable students to process and apply their new knowledge.
Selection Criteria:
NIMS ICS Position Specific training should be completed by personnel who are regularly assigned to functional, support, or unit leader positions on USFA or other Type III All-Hazards Incident Management Teams (AHIMT), or by those persons who desire to seek credentials/certification in those positions.
Prerequisites Required: ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
Recommended: ICS 300, 400
Course Length: 5 days

Members, friends & family donated more than $100.00 as well as much needed supplied such as crates, pet food (over 65 pounds), food and water bowls, leashes, cleaning supplies, towels & bedding, medical supplies, batteries, flashlights, etc. Enough supplies to FILL A JEEP!
